Ziziphus mauritiana

Description

Deciduous fruit tree that produces delicious fruits similar to dates. Extremely drought resistant and climate well.

Growing tips

The jujube tree (Ziziphus mauritiana) is a very hardy fruit tree that requires full sun exposure, with a minimum of 7 hours of direct sunlight per day; always plant it outdoors in a well-sunlit spot. It is extremely drought-resistant, so water it sparingly and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially once established. It tolerates temperatures down to -8 °C and adapts perfectly to Mediterranean climates, thriving in well-drained soils with moderate fertility. Plant it in spring or autumn to encourage good root development before extreme seasons.
