Viburnum

Viburnum tinus

Description

Evergreen shrub with highly valued winter flowering.

Growing tips

Viburnum tinus is a very hardy evergreen shrub that tolerates temperatures down to -10 °C and adapts well to Mediterranean climates; plant it outdoors in autumn or spring, in a semi-shaded spot receiving between 2 and 7 hours of sunlight per day. It requires moderate watering, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, and grows well in ordinary, well-drained substrates. It will reward you with fragrant white flowers in winter and spring with very little extra care. Bear in mind that it has mild toxicity, so ingestion of its berries should be avoided, especially by children and pets.
