Viburnum lucidum
Evergreen shrub with shiny leaves and fragrant white flowers followed by black fruits. Excellent for hedges.
The Llistó (Viburnum lucidum) is a hardy outdoor shrub that tolerates temperatures down to -8 °C and adapts very well to Mediterranean climates; plant it in autumn or spring in a spot with direct sun and at least 5 hours of light per day. Water moderately, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, and use well-draining soil to prevent waterlogging. Given its potential height of 150–300 cm, it works excellently as a hedge or privacy screen; a light pruning after the spring flowering will help maintain a tidy shape. Bear in mind that it is mildly toxic, especially the black berries, so take care if children or pets are present nearby.
