Tradescantia zebrina
Decorative plant with variegated purple and silver leaves, small lavender flowers. Perfect for hanging baskets and indoor spaces.
Tradescantia zebrina needs between 4 and 8 hours of light per day, preferably bright indirect light or gentle sun, as insufficient light causes the variegated leaf colouration to fade. Water it moderately, allowing the top few centimetres of soil to dry out between waterings, especially in winter. It does not tolerate frost or temperatures below 10 °C, so when grown outdoors it must be protected or brought inside when cold weather arrives. Bear in mind that it can cause mild skin irritation, so it is advisable to handle it with care.
