Thymus serpyllum
A sprawling shrub with ancestral medicinal properties. Pink-lilac flowers that cover the plant in summer, ideal for honeys and herbal teas.
Wild thyme needs full sun exposure (at least 6-7 hours per day) and a well-drained substrate, preferably sandy or stony, as it does not tolerate excess moisture at the roots. Water it very sparingly, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, especially in winter. It is very hardy and withstands frost down to -10 °C, making it ideal for outdoor Mediterranean gardens without any special protection. Plant it in spring or autumn and prune it lightly after the summer flowering to keep the plant compact and encourage healthy growth.
