Teucrium marum
Low germander with aromatic leaves and pink flowers. Attracts pollinating insects.
The Cat Thyme is a very hardy Mediterranean shrub that requires full sun (at least 6 hours per day) and a well-drained substrate, preferably calcareous or sandy, as it does not tolerate excess moisture around the roots. Watering should be sparse, especially in summer, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings; it is frost-resistant down to -8 °C. It is ideal for outdoor Mediterranean gardens and rockeries, requires little fertilisation, and a light pruning in spring keeps it compact and encourages its pink summer blooms. Note: this plant is toxic, so avoid prolonged contact and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
