Golden Germander

Teucrium aureum

Description

Small shrub with grayish leaves and bright yellow flowers. Extremely drought-resistant and ideal for rock gardens.

Growing tips

Teucrium aureum is an easy-to-grow shrub that requires full sun exposure, with at least 7 hours of direct sunlight per day; plant it outdoors in well-drained, preferably sandy or stony soil, as it is ideal for rock gardens. Watering should be sparse, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, since it tolerates drought very well. It is a hardy plant that withstands frosts down to -8 °C, so no winter protection is needed in Mediterranean climates. Note that it has mild toxicity, so caution is advised if children or pets are nearby.
