Eggplant

Solanum melongena var. serpentinum

Description

Tropical plant adapted to Mediterranean climate with elongated fruits with purple skin. Requires abundant sunlight.

Growing tips

Plant the eggplant outdoors in spring, once temperatures consistently exceed 15 °C and there is no risk of frost, choosing a spot with direct sunlight for at least 6-7 hours per day. Water regularly and moderately, keeping the soil slightly moist but never waterlogged, as balanced watering encourages the development of the characteristic elongated fruits of this variety. Use a fertile, well-draining substrate rich in organic matter, and fertilize periodically throughout summer to support flowering and fruiting. Keep in mind that this plant is frost-sensitive and should not be left outdoors if temperatures drop below 15 °C.
