Tomato

Solanum lycopersicum

Description

The Mediterranean vegetable par excellence. It needs plenty of sun and heat to produce well.

Growing tips

Plant the tomato outdoors in a spot with 7-12 hours of direct sunlight per day, as it is not suitable for indoors and needs plenty of light and warmth to produce well. Water abundantly and regularly, keeping the substrate consistently moist but well-drained, especially during summer flowering and fruiting. Do not expose it to temperatures below 10 °C or to frost, as it has no frost resistance whatsoever. Use a nutrient-rich substrate and stake it if it grows taller than one metre to support the weight of the fruits.
