Sclerocactus whipplei
Small globular cactus native to the Mojave Desert with characteristic hooked spines. It produces yellow flowers in spring and is a rare and protected species.
Requires full sun and excellent drainage. Water moderately in spring-summer and almost not at all in winter. Tolerates low temperatures. Avoid excess moisture.
