Sarracenia purpurea
Carnivorous plant native to North America with leaves modified into pitcher shapes that trap insects. Produces red flowers in spring and requires constant moisture and acidic soil.
Keep soil moist with distilled or rainwater. Expose to direct sun 4-8 hours daily. Grow in acidic soil (peat and sand). Winter dormancy in cool zone is essential. Do not fertilize, catches insects for nutrition.
