Salvia nemorosa

Salvia nemorosa

Description

Compact perennial sage with violet flowers in spikes. Resistant and low maintenance.

Growing tips

Salvia nemorosa is an easy-to-grow outdoor plant that needs 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day to flower well from late spring through summer. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, as it is highly drought-tolerant and does not cope well with excess moisture. Use a well-drained substrate and no winter protection is needed, since it is very frost-hardy and withstands temperatures down to -15 °C. Plant it in spring or autumn and deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage new growth.
