Salvia aurea
South African sage with luminous golden-yellow flowers. Aromatic foliage and abundant flowers perfect for pollinators.
Golden Sage needs an outdoor location with direct sunlight, ideally between 6 and 9 hours per day, in well-drained soil, preferably calcareous or sandy, typical of Mediterranean climates. Watering should be scarce: water moderately during establishment and reduce frequency once rooted, as it tolerates drought very well. It is resistant to light frosts (down to -2 °C), so it can remain outdoors during winter in temperate climates. Prune lightly after the autumn flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage fresh growth.
