Salvia apiana
Aromatic shrub with silvery leaves and white flowers, traditionally used for medicinal and ritual purposes. Highly drought-resistant.
White sage needs full sun exposure, with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, and a well-drained substrate, preferably sandy or stony, to prevent moisture from accumulating around the roots. Watering should be sparse: allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as this plant is highly drought-resistant and overwatering is its main risk. It is a hardy shrub that tolerates temperatures down to -8 °C, but must always be grown outdoors with good air circulation. Avoid rich organic substrates or excessive fertilising, as these encourage weak, less aromatic growth.
