Rosa damascena
Ancient rose with exquisite aroma, used in perfumery. Flowers full of pink color.
The Damascus Rose needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day to bloom well in spring and summer; plant it outdoors in autumn or spring, in a well-drained substrate rich in organic matter. Water it moderately, keeping the soil slightly moist but avoiding waterlogging, as it is sensitive to root rot. It is very hardy and tolerates temperatures down to -20 °C, so it requires no special frost protection in most Mediterranean climates. Prune dead or weak branches in late winter to encourage abundant, fragrant flowering.
