Rhus aromatica
Deciduous shrub with aromatic leaves that turn red in autumn. Discreet yellow flowers followed by red berries that attract birds.
Rhus aromatica is a hardy, easy-to-grow shrub that requires full sun, with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day; always plant it outdoors in a sunny location. Watering should be sparse, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as it tolerates drought very well once established. It withstands very cold temperatures down to -15 °C, so no winter protection is needed in most climates. Bear in mind that it is a toxic plant, so handle it with gloves and avoid contact with eyes and mouth.
