Pseudanthemum coccineum
Semi-tropical climbing plant with flaming red flowers. Needs protection in very cold winters but blooms spectacularly in warm Mediterranean climate.
Place the red-flowered Pseudanthemum in a fully outdoor spot with at least 6-7 hours of direct sunlight per day, as this vigorous climber can reach 3.5 m in height and requires a sturdy support such as a trellis, pergola, or wall. Water moderately and regularly throughout spring and summer, reducing irrigation in autumn and winter; it tolerates down to -2 °C, but in areas with occasional frost it is advisable to protect the base with mulch or frost fleece. Use a well-drained substrate rich in organic matter to encourage its spectacular deep-red flowering display during summer and autumn.
