Growing tips

Plantain (Plantago major) is a very hardy medicinal plant that tolerates frost down to -15 °C and adapts well to Mediterranean climates; plant it in spring or autumn outdoors, in a spot with direct sun for at least 3-4 hours a day. Water with moderate frequency, keeping the substrate slightly moist but avoiding waterlogging, as it prefers a regular medium watering regime. It accepts almost any soil, though it thrives in loamy, well-drained ground and does not require frequent fertilising thanks to its adaptable nature. It is an easy-to-grow plant reaching up to 40 cm in height that needs very little maintenance once established.
