Pistacia lentiscus
Mediterranean shrub or small tree with aromatic leaves and small red flowers. Very drought-resistant and suitable for xeriscape gardens.
The terebinth (Pistacia lentiscus) needs an outdoor location with full sun exposure, ideally receiving between 7 and 12 hours of direct sunlight per day. Water very sparingly, as it is highly drought-tolerant and overwatering can be harmful; once established, it requires little to no additional irrigation. It thrives in well-drained, poor or calcareous soils typical of Mediterranean climates, and withstands temperatures down to -8 °C without issues. Plant it in autumn or spring and allow it to grow freely, as it is a robust, aromatic, and low-maintenance species.
