Pileostegia viburnoides
Climbing plant with aerial suckers that adheres to surfaces. Cream-colored highly fragrant flowers grouped in dense umbels.
The Pileostegia viburnoides is an evergreen climber that needs a solid support (wall, fence or trellis) where its aerial suckers can attach; plant it in spring or autumn in a well-drained, organically rich substrate. It requires between 3 and 8 hours of direct sun per day to flower well in late summer and autumn, producing its highly fragrant cream blooms. Watering should be moderate: water when the substrate is partially dry, avoiding both prolonged drought and waterlogging. It is frost-hardy down to -5 °C, so it can overwinter outdoors in Mediterranean climates without special protection.
