Phyllostachys aurea

Description

Structural plant ideal for natural fences and privacy.

Growing tips

Golden bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea) requires between 4 and 9 hours of direct sunlight per day and moderate watering, keeping the soil slightly moist while avoiding waterlogging. It is very hardy and tolerates temperatures down to -15 °C, making it ideal for outdoor use in Mediterranean and cold climates. Plant it in spring in a fertile, well-drained substrate, bearing in mind it can reach 3 to 7 metres in height, making it excellent as a natural hedge or privacy screen. Control its spread by installing a root barrier around the rhizomes to prevent it from invading unwanted areas.
