Phaseolus vulgaris subsp. vulgaris
Productive legume with tender pods. Fast and very simple cultivation for beginners.
French beans need full sun exposure (at least 6 hours a day) and light, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water moderately and regularly, keeping the substrate moist but never waterlogged, as the roots do not tolerate excess moisture. Plant them in spring once temperatures consistently exceed 12 °C, as they are very sensitive to frost and cold. Bear in mind that raw seeds are toxic, so the pods must always be cooked before eating.
