Pelargonium zonale
Classic plant for balconies and Mediterranean gardens. Long flowering and vibrant colors.
The geranium needs between 5 and 12 hours of direct sunlight daily to bloom abundantly from spring to autumn; place it on a sunny balcony or terrace. Water it moderately, allowing the top layer of the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings, as excess moisture can rot the roots. Use a light, well-draining substrate and feed it every two weeks with a phosphorus-rich fertiliser during the flowering season. Since it is not frost-resistant, protect it or bring it indoors when temperatures drop below 5 °C.
