Passiflora foetida var. hispida
Exotic climbing vine with complex flowers featuring a very characteristic white crown. Produces edible fruits and attracts nectar.
Passiflora foetida var. hispida requires an outdoor location with full sun exposure (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day) and a sturdy support structure to climb, as it can reach between 2 and 4 metres in height. Water with moderate frequency, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings, and use well-draining soil to prevent waterlogging. It is a hardy plant that tolerates temperatures down to -5 °C, making it well suited to Mediterranean climates without the need for winter protection in most cases. It produces spectacular aromatic white flowers during summer and autumn; bear in mind that it has mild toxicity, so handle it with care.
