Passionflower

Passiflora edulis

Description

Perennial climbing plant with exotic flowers and edible fruit. Used for anxiety, insomnia and stress.

Growing tips

Passiflora edulis needs an outdoor location with direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day and a sturdy support structure to climb, as it can reach between 3 and 6 metres in height. Water with moderate frequency, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings, and use well-draining soil to prevent waterlogging. It is not frost-hardy and does not tolerate temperatures below 3 °C, so in cold climates it should be protected or sheltered during winter. Bear in mind that the plant has mild toxicity, so handle it carefully if children or pets are present nearby.
