Origanum vulgare
Essential in Mediterranean cuisine, very easy to grow.
Oregano needs at least 5-6 hours of direct sunlight per day and should be grown exclusively outdoors. Water sparingly, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, as it tolerates drought very well. Plant it in well-drained, low-fertility soil typical of Mediterranean climates, avoiding excess moisture that can rot the roots. It is very hardy and withstands frosts down to -10 °C, so it requires no special winter protection in most climates.
