Myrtus communis subsp. variegata
Evergreen shrub with variegated white and green leaves, aromatic white flowers and decorative black fruits. Symbol of peace and love in Mediterranean culture.
The Variegated Myrtle needs full sun exposure (at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day) in an outdoor location, as it is not suitable for indoors. Water with moderate frequency, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings, and use well-drained soil to prevent excess moisture around the roots. It is frost-hardy and tolerates temperatures down to -5 °C, making it well suited to a Mediterranean climate without special winter protection. Plant it in spring or autumn and prune lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage its attractive variegated foliage.
