Miscanthus x giganteus
Giant grass with long, narrow leaves that create a natural bamboo effect. Features silvery feathery panicles in autumn.
Miscanthus x giganteus is a giant outdoor grass that requires full sun exposure, with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Water at a moderate frequency, keeping the soil slightly moist but avoiding waterlogging, and reduce watering in winter when the plant goes dormant. It is very hardy and tolerates frosts down to -12 °C, so no winter protection is needed in most Mediterranean climates. In late winter or early spring, cut the dry stems down to about 10-15 cm above the ground to encourage vigorous new growth for the coming season.
