Melissa officinalis
Plant with lemon aroma, excellent for infusions and as a natural insect repellent.
Lemon balm needs between 4 and 10 hours of direct sunlight per day and moderate watering, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings to avoid excess moisture. Plant it in well-drained soil slightly rich in organic matter, both indoors in a pot and outdoors in the garden. It is very hardy and tolerates temperatures down to -20 °C, so no winter protection is needed in temperate climates. Prune it regularly to encourage lush growth and make use of the fresh leaves for herbal teas or as a natural insect repellent.
