Mahonia aquifolium
Evergreen shrub native to the Pacific Northwest with holly-like compound leaves and fragrant yellow-gold flowers. Produces dark blue edible berries in autumn.
Prefers semi-shaded locations and well-drained soil. Moderate watering, more abundant in summer. Light pruning after flowering to maintain shape. Frost-hardy and low-maintenance.
