Lonicera × heckrottii
Perennial climbing vine with red-orange tubular flowers that are very aromatic. Blooms continuously during the warm season.
The red Heckrott honeysuckle needs an outdoor location with direct sun (at least 5 hours a day) and a sturdy support to climb, as it can reach up to 5 metres in height. Water with moderate frequency, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, and plant it preferably in spring or autumn in well-drained soil. It is very hardy and tolerates frosts down to -12 °C, so it requires no winter protection in Mediterranean climates. Bear in mind that it is mildly toxic, so handle it with care if children or pets are nearby.
