Leucadendron salignum

Description

South African shrub with conical cream-colored inflorescences and silvery leaves. Exotic and elegant, ideal for modern dry gardens.

Growing tips

White Coròs needs an outdoor location with direct sunlight for at least 6 hours a day and very infrequent watering, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Plant it in well-drained, nutrient-poor and slightly acidic soil, as is typical for the Proteaceae family — rich soils or those high in phosphorus can be harmful to it. It tolerates temperatures down to -5 °C, making it hardy enough for outdoor cultivation in temperate climates, but it is not suitable for indoors. The best time to plant it is spring, and it will flower during winter and spring with its characteristic cream-coloured cone-like inflorescences.
