Annual herbaceous plant cultivated for its protein-rich seeds. Lentils are a legume with pinnate compound leaves and small white or pink flowers.
Sow in well-drained soil with good sun exposure. Requires moderate watering without waterlogging. Harvest at 70-90 days when pods turn brown.
