Lagerstroemia indica
Deciduous tree with showy violet-purple flowers during summer. Deciduous leaf with rounded tones that turns reddish in autumn.
The Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica) needs an outdoor location with direct sunlight for at least 6-7 hours a day to bloom well during summer and autumn. Water it moderately, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, especially in winter when the tree is leafless. It is a hardy tree that withstands temperatures down to -10 °C; plant it in spring or autumn in well-drained soil to encourage good root establishment. It is an easy-care species ideal for Mediterranean gardens, where it provides a spectacular reddish autumn foliage display.
