Koelreuteria paniculata
Oriental deciduous tree with yellow flowers in summer panicles. Notable for its reddish-pink fruits that persist until autumn.
The Golden Rain Tree (Koelreuteria paniculata) requires an outdoor location with direct sunlight, ideally receiving more than 6 hours of light per day, as it is a large deciduous tree not suitable for indoor growing. Watering should be sparse, as it tolerates drought well once established, especially in Mediterranean climates; water moderately during the first year and gradually reduce frequency. It is very hardy and withstands frosts down to -15 °C, so no winter protection is needed. Plant it in autumn or spring in well-drained soil with plenty of space, as it can reach between 6 and 10 metres in height.
