Phoenician Juniper

Juniperus phoenicea subsp. lycia

Description

Aromatic cypress tree of Mediterranean cliffs. Gray-green foliage with characteristic reddish fruits.

Growing tips

The Phoenicean juniper requires full sun exposure (at least 7 hours daily) and a well-drained substrate, preferably calcareous or rocky, as it is very sensitive to excess moisture. Water very sparingly, especially in summer, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. It is frost-hardy down to -8 °C and perfectly adapted to Mediterranean climates, requiring no winter protection. Plant it exclusively outdoors in a permanent location, as it can reach between 150 and 350 cm in height.
