Ixia viridiflora
Unique flowers of dark green color with black center that create a spectacular contrast. Rare South African plant that requires good drainage and temperate climate.
Plant the corms in autumn in a full sun location (at least 6 hours per day) and in well-drained soil, as Ixia viridiflora does not tolerate excess moisture or waterlogging. Water sparingly and reduce watering once the spring-summer flowering period ends and the foliage dies back, as the plant requires a dry dormancy period. Protect the corms from frost (minimum temperature 2 °C) by applying a layer of mulch over the soil or lifting them if temperatures drop significantly. Always grow it outdoors, as it is not suitable for indoor cultivation.
