Heliotropium arborescens
Plant with intense violet-colored flowers and a very characteristic vanilla aroma.
Heliotrope needs direct sun for at least 6 hours a day to bloom well in summer and autumn; indoors, place it in front of a very bright south-facing window. Water with moderate frequency, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings, and use a well-draining soil to prevent root rot. It does not tolerate frost, so if temperatures drop below 5 °C bring it indoors or provide protection. Caution: this is a toxic plant, so avoid contact with eyes and unwashed hands, and keep it out of reach of children and animals.
