Ginkgo

Ginkgo biloba

Description

Exotic deciduous tree with fan-shaped leaves. It acquires a golden hue in autumn, is very resistant and long-lived.

Growing tips

The ginkgo is a very hardy deciduous tree that tolerates temperatures down to -20 °C and grows well outdoors. Plant it in a spot with direct sunlight (at least 6 hours a day) and in well-drained soil, as it does not tolerate waterlogging. Watering should be moderate: water regularly during the first years to encourage establishment, then reduce frequency once the tree is settled. It has mild toxicity, so avoid prolonged contact with the seeds or sap if you have sensitive skin.
