Genista cinerea
Climbing broom with fine grayish leaves and abundant fragrant yellow flowers. Extremely drought-resistant and suitable for poor soils.
The grey-leaved broom requires full sun exposure with a minimum of 7 hours of direct sunlight per day, and is ideally planted in spring in well-drained, poor soils, as it tolerates and even thrives in low-fertility ground. Watering should be very infrequent once established, since it is extremely drought-resistant and overwatering can cause serious harm. It is very hardy and withstands temperatures down to -10 °C, so no winter protection is needed in Mediterranean and temperate climates. Avoid transplanting it frequently, as it does not tolerate root disturbance well.
