Maritime Baccar

Frankenia thymifolia

Description

Prostrate shrub with small grey-green leaves and pink flowers. Perfect for ground cover in dry terrain.

Growing tips

Maritime baccar needs an outdoor location with direct sun for at least 6 hours a day and well-drained, preferably sandy or stony soil typical of Mediterranean climates. Water sparingly, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, as it is highly drought-tolerant. It is frost-resistant down to -5 °C, so no winter protection is needed in temperate areas. Plant it in spring or autumn as a ground cover to make the most of its prostrate habit and pink summer flowers.
