Frankenia laevis
Low creeping shrub with fine grayish leaves and small pink flowers. Extremely resistant to salt and drought, ideal for coastal gardens.
Sea Heath needs full sun exposure (at least 7 hours a day) and well-drained soil, preferably sandy or calcareous, as it does not tolerate waterlogged roots. Watering should be very infrequent, especially once established, taking advantage of its excellent drought and salt tolerance. Hardy down to -8 °C, it is a tough plant perfectly suited to outdoor coastal gardens; plant it in spring or autumn to encourage good root establishment. Its low maintenance requirements and creeping habit make it an outstanding ground cover for wind-exposed and salt-spray areas.
