Loquat

Eriobotrya japonica

Description

Evergreen tree very well adapted to the Mediterranean climate. Highly appreciated spring fruit.

Growing tips

The loquat tree needs an outdoor location with direct sunlight for at least 5-6 hours a day and moderate watering, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. It is a hardy tree that tolerates frost down to -8 °C, making it well suited to Mediterranean climates without any special winter protection. Plant it in autumn in well-drained soil with plenty of space, as it can reach up to 8 metres in height and 6 metres in width. Enjoy its fragrant white flowers in autumn and winter and its fruit in spring, with minimal maintenance thanks to its easy-care nature.
