Dictamnus albus subsp. caucasicus
Shrub with aromatic divided leaves and white flowers in spike. Emits ethereal oils visible on hot days.
White dittany requires full sun exposure (at least 5 hours daily) in a permanent outdoor location, as it is not suitable for indoors. Water with moderate frequency and ensure the substrate has good drainage, since it tolerates dry spells better than excess moisture. It is very hardy and withstands temperatures down to -10 °C without issue, so no winter protection is needed in Mediterranean climates. Bear in mind that it is a toxic plant: avoid direct skin contact, especially on hot days when it releases volatile essential oils.
