Dianthus caryophyllus

The carnation needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day and is grown exclusively outdoors, ideally in sunny, well-ventilated spots. Water it moderately, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent excess moisture around the roots. Plant it in spring or autumn in well-drained soil, preferably slightly alkaline, to encourage abundant flowering from spring through summer. It is a hardy plant that tolerates frost down to -10 °C, making it very well suited to Mediterranean climates.
