Curcuma longa
Tropical herbaceous plant native to South Asia, cultivated for its rhizomes containing turmeric, an essential ingredient in Asian cuisine. It features long, attractive leaves with yellow flowers grouped in inflorescences.
Requires moist soil rich in organic matter. Needs temperatures between 20-30°C and frost protection. Plant rhizomes 3-5 cm deep. Harvest rhizomes after 7-10 months when leaves turn yellow. Water regularly during growing season.
