Cucurbita maxima
Ground cover plant with large fruits of sweet flesh. Ideal for wide spaces and warm climate.
Squash needs an outdoor location with direct sun for at least 6-7 hours a day and fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Water regularly to keep the soil moderately moist, especially during flowering and fruit development in summer. Do not plant it until night temperatures are consistently above 12 °C, as it does not tolerate frost. Allow a wide growing space of around 150-250 cm so its vines can spread freely.
