Cosmos bipinnatus

Description

Annual plant with a light and elegant appearance featuring flowers in shades of pink, white, and mauve.

Growing tips

Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus) needs an outdoor spot with direct sun for at least 6 hours a day to bloom abundantly throughout summer and autumn. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, as it is drought-tolerant and easily suffers from overwatering. Plant it in spring once all frost risk has passed, since it does not tolerate temperatures below 5 °C. A light, low-fertility soil suits it best, as overly rich soil encourages leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
