Cistus salviifolius
Aromatic shrub with short-lived but abundant white flowers. Highly drought-resistant and ideal for xerophytic gardens.
White rockrose (Cistus salviifolius) requires full sun exposure, with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, and adapts perfectly to Mediterranean and xerophytic outdoor gardens. Water it very sparingly, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings, as it is highly drought-tolerant and suffers if waterlogged. Plant it in poor, well-drained soil without the need for rich fertilisers, preferably in spring or autumn. It withstands frost down to -10 °C, making it a hardy, very easy-to-manage shrub that requires no special winter protection.
