Cistus incanus
Mediterranean shrub with light purple flowers, sticky aromatic leaves and extremely drought resistant.
The hoary rockrose needs an outdoor location with direct sun for at least 6-7 hours a day and well-drained soil, preferably poor and calcareous, as it thrives in dry Mediterranean conditions. Water it very sparingly, especially in summer, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, since it is highly drought-tolerant and suffers more from overwatering than from drought. It is frost-hardy down to -10 °C, so it requires no winter protection in Mediterranean or temperate climates. Plant it in spring or autumn to encourage strong root establishment.
